Health Canada Cosmetic/Drug Classification Policies Revised

Health Canada has revised policies used to classify products that share characteristics of both cosmetics and drugs, (eg. acne treatments, toothpastes.) Existing products may be re-classified at any time after Fall 2007. To view a copy of the Guidance Document click here.

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the front pocket and back lining of the bib contains phthalates, specifically DEHP (Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate) and DBP (Dibutylphtalate), which exceed the allowable limit.

Champix: Updated safety information for the smoking-cessation drug

Health Canada is informing Canadians that our review of Champix is now complete and the label has been updated with new information with respect to cardiovascular safety. Champix (the brand name for varenicline tartrate) is a prescription drug used to help patients quit smoking in combination with supportive counselling.
